Fitness Class Descriptions

You will find the same revolutionary philosophy and appreciation for the convenience that made you want to join, is at the heart of our classes, giving you a variety of classes all from a studio setting.

Jo’s is constantly coming up with the most innovative classes while keeping it real around our ‘neck of the woods’ – Turn n’ Burn, As Seen On TV and Dance to the Decades, just to name a few. And our instructors aren't just your run-of-the-mill aerobics instructors. They come from all walks of life (they could be your neighbor or your local firefighter) - making every class unique and exciting.

We will offer a minimum of one class from each category ensuring that everyone can indulge with one of our Chill Outs or go ‘gung ho’ with our Action Sports classes.

 

 

Action Sports

A good workout is whatever gets your heart racing.

Everyone wants to be part of the action.  Classes such as Contact Kickboxing and Jo’s Camp help you gear up for your activities even outside the four walls of Jo’s.  Take classes that help you train for a marathon or even for your physical training exams to keep your position in the armed forces, and help you build the strength, endurance and stamina needed for real life action sports.

 

Bosu Bootcamp

Integrated Balance Training on an apparatus that is a cross between a core board and a stability ball. It's fun, it's challenging and it's a total body workout for any fitness level!

Camp Jo’s w/ Instructor J

Ten-Hut! Operation Jo is result oriented, bootcamp fitness done civilian style, this class is one HOOAH way to give your workout a kick-start.

 

Contact Kickboxing

An advanced workout for experienced participants. The kick bags & shields, thai pads and focus mitts will be used as participants work on defensive and offensive skills. Sign up 60 minutes before class starts. Wraps are a must, bag gloves provided.

 

Extreme Suburban Adventure

Take your workout outdoors with this heart pumping, sweat pouring extreme urban adventure.

 

Chill Outs

How hot is Hot Yoga?

Take a deep breathe and check out these classes that include everything from Stretch, to Pilates, to Yoga and Meditation.  Class included in the Chill Outs category focus on minimizing stress and maximizing wellness.

 

Candlelight Stretch

Begin with a solid abdominal session then experience a deep, athletic and relaxing stretch class by soothing candlelight. Followed by a guided meditation.

 

Hot Yoga

It's HOT alright! Taught in a heated room this class generates heat and holistic energy throughout the body with a specific series of poses. Areas of challenge include balance, flexibility, and stamina. Bring water and a towel! This class is CHALLENGING.

FUSION: Yoga-Pilates

The best of Yoga blended with the best of Pilates. The movements are rhythmic and slightly choreographed.

Meditation

A colorful trip to find your piece of mind. A 30 minute guided meditation class.  Promotes harmony through guided imagery.

 

BOSU Pilates

We’ve up-ed the ante on mat-based pilates. By incorporating the BOSU, the same fluid movement is performed with a slightly faster pace, creating more challenge. The goal is still the same – muscle length and strength – we now just go after the prize aggressively. Expect a little more sweat, a little more burn and quicker results.

Transform Breathing

What’s the quickest way to actively meditate? Breathe! How do you get more energy and reduce stress. Breathe! This class will teach you the technique to utilize the “Full-Wave” to get the most from your breathing.

 

Jo's Classics

A Healthy Serving of Meat and Potatoes.

These are the classes you know and still love, the tried and true.  While we offer your favorites, such as Sculpt and Step, they will have the Jo’s Gym flavor.

 

Retro-Robics

Put on your leg warmers and favorite leotard and get down with the timeless Jazzercise or Jane Fonda like routines from the 80's. Part aerobic, part body strength, do the high knee and a bicep curl!

Cardio Sculpt

Enjoy non-stop body sculpting accompanied by heart pumping cardio.

Step

This class combines athletic and/or dance based aerobic moves using an adjustable platform for diverse levels of intensity.

 

Dance Rhythm's

Which is better; to Line or Belly?

It’s time to break out all your moves in these dance based classes.  They include anything that involve a rhythm and a beat and range from Disco to Hip Hop.

 

Dance of the Decades

Travel through time with this dance class inspired by the past five decades. Swing into the 40’s, twist into the 50’s, shake your groove thing in the 70’s, break-dance your way through 80’s, and get down in the 90’s. Each week, jump back into a different decade and learn a new dance routine.

Country Line

Country music, line dancing and everything but sawdust and peanut shells on the floor! This easy-to-follow line-dancing class that will have you reaching for spurs and a cowboy hat before the hour is up.

Hip-Hop Cowgirl

An exciting workout-mix of  hip-hop dancing with a rowdy South twist! Round 'em up cowgirl style with cowboy hats and lots of yeeeeehaa!

Gospel Aerobics

Hallelujah! Welcome to Sunday school - to exercise your body & soul. A 60 minute sermon of hi-lo.

Belly Moves

Tone your tummy and tighten your torso as you swivel your way to a sexy new waist utilizing belly dancing moves.

As Seen On TV

Based off the informercials seen on TV.  Instead of buying the dvd or video tape and using it as a book end, you can now participate in the live class.  From ‘Yoga Booty Ballet’ to ‘Ultra Cardio Kickboxing’, these classes are sure to get you inspired as they have by the millions who have purchased the dvd.

 

Turn ’n Burn

This is a hard-core, no-nonsense, fat-burning workout. Jump rope your way to a leaner, meaner physique with intervals of lunges, squats, pushups and abdominal work.

Kidz Cardio

This fun-damental class utilizing basic exercises, small apparatus and stretching will be sure to have their heads hitting the pillow early that night.  Parents are encouraged to participate with their youngsters.

 

 

Jo’s Express

Quickies, made to jump in and outta.

These 15-30 minute QUICKIE classes designed to get in and out, whether you jump off the treadmill, finish up a strength routine or just come in for you quickie fitness class.  Get ready to catch the next stretch, core, ab’s or butt workout with Jo’s Express.

 

15 Min. Abs, Athletic Abs, Washboard Abs, Chizeled Abs
Focuses specifically on abs, obliques and lower back.

 

Stretch & Abs
30 minutes focusing on strengthening the abdominal and lower back muscles along with stretches to enhance flexibility.

 

Below the Belt

A 30 minute Jo’s exclusive on lower body strength, sculpting and power. Targets glutes, quads and hamstrings (basically butt & thighs).

 

BOSU Core

Your favorite ab workout + the natural resistance and support of the Bosu = BOSU ABS!

Because we want to keep the monotony from entering our studio, we change up our classes every 3 months and may be subject to change without prior notice.
